1. To say rain or snow is falling is done with が

昨日雨が降りました

きのうあめがふりました It rained yesterday

2. Emphasizes which thing. This one not that one.

この本がおもしろい

このほんがおもしろい This book is interesting

3. が　is used with 好き

私はりんごが好きです

わたしはりんごがすきです I like apples

4. が　is used with わかる

友達は英語が分からない

ともだちはえいごがわからない My friend doesn’t understand English

5. がis used to say who performed an action

これは母が作ったケーキです

これはははがつくったケーキです This cake was made by my mom
